UN General Assembly Resolution on the Permanent Sovereignty Over Natural Resources

On 14 December 1962, via resolution 1803 (XVII), the General Assembly declared a series of principles on exploration, development and disposition of natural resources, nationalization and expropriation, foreign investment, the sharing of profits and others related to the sovereignty of peoples and nations over their natural wealth and natural resources and the duty of States and international organizations to strictly and conscientiously respect them. The new publication of the CETIM on the right to land is out

The recognition of the right to land, a historic demand by peasant movements, is gaining momentum at the international level. This publication takes stock of this major issue of our times. It is the result of major research and inquiry, and the fruit of close collaboration with La Vía Campesina.

On Human Rights Day 2014, FIAN International launches urgent action letter campaign

Heidelberg, Germany – Geneva, Switzerland, 10 December 2014: Human Rights Day is celebrated today around the world to commemorate the innate human rights of all people as expressed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights adopted on 10 December 1948. FIAN International joins the 2014’s UN slogan, ‘Human Rights 365’, to reinforce that each one of us, every single day and everywhere, is entitled to the full range of human rights, including the right to adequate food and nutrition.
